Junzi

The noble person, exemplary person. The Confucian ideal of moral character — one who cultivates virtue, leads by example, and acts with integrity in all relationships. Confucius described the junzi as one who cultivates virtue for its own sake, leads by moral example rather than force, and remains steadfast in principle even in adversity.

As Confucius taught through the Analects and as the Confucian tradition of self-cultivation holds, Junzi represents a key concept that continues to inform philosophical thought and practice today.
